Screen Repair - It's All Part Of Owning A Pool Enclosure

You'll notice as you go through the state of Florida that most, if not all of the swimming pools are protected with patios or pool enclosures. One of the main reasons they're so popular is that at any point in time, you can also find a huge swarm of mosquitos in the vicinity.

Due to the continuous influx of bugs throughout Florida, the pool enclosures built around and over the pools give the homeowners the ability to actually enjoy their pools without discomfort. At times, just sitting on an uncovered porch is very challenging. Unfortunately, things will break, so at some point in time the homeowner will be faced with the prospect of performing a screen repair.

The screen consists of material that is mostly made of nylon that has a plastic coating put over it. And the actual framing of the enclosures is made from aluminum, which means that they are very rust resistant. You can pretty much bet the enclosure will outlive your house, unless a hurricane blows through and takes it out. If you need to repair a tear in a screen or they begin to oxidize and become grey with age, what can you do?

For a screen repair on a pool enclosure to be done properly, you need to have adequate knowledge of what you are about. The screen itself is held in place in the aluminum framing by spline. And you must have special tools in working with the spline such that it will remain in the groove.

The "do it yourself" people will head for Lowes or Home Depot for materials to fix it, but the frustration will be when they get home and find the materials and the tools they have are not that good or inferior. There is a variety of screen materials to choose from, as well.

Although the standard screen repair necessitates a 18x14 mesh material, people often decide to go with a material that's a 20x20 mesh. What that translates to is a smaller hole in the screen . While doing repairs on pool enclosures, some home owners may decide to use privacy screens or even a Sun Screen which gives shade.

Normally, screens that cover the top of a pool enclosure have a life expectancy of eight to ten years before requiring replacement. The screens that make up the sides of the enclosures will last 10-12 years, which is longer. Naturally, screen repair may be required from time to time as things such as weed eaters and squirrels damage the screens.

When ordering a pool enclosure you have color options of white or bronze. The bronze color is found to be preferred by most people since the screws, as they weather, blend in somewhat better than the white ones. What it all boils down to is that you need to have pool enclosures if you have an outdoor pool in Florida, or you will not enjoy using your pool nearly as much. You will be bitten like crazy by the bugs in your yard!
